THE Scott Street Cafe Restaurant in Newcastle East has extended its dinner hours and will now open six nights a week, from Monday to Saturday.

The intimate cafe restaurant also offers breakfast and lunch on weekends from 10am until 3pm with menus that change monthly.

At the moment the brunch menu features delights like bowls of fresh fruit salad with yogurt and honey, $6.50, toasted Turkish bread sandwich with bacon and eggs, $7, and butter mushrooms with fried polenta, $9.

There is also the Scott Street vegetarian `big breakfast' with mushrooms, polenta, tomatoes, hash browns, eggs and toast for $10.50 and the regular `big breakfast' at $11, which includes bacon and sausage as well as tomatoes, hash browns, eggs and toast.

* VALENTINE'S Day falls on a Sunday this year and the Scott Street Cafe Restaurant will open up especially.

Normally the restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch only on Sundays.

But due to enquiries about booking for dinner, the restaurant will be open on Valentine's night.

Entrees range between $8.50 and $14 and include grilled scallops with warm potato salad and truffle oil, and almond-crusted lamb brains with baby spinach and fried capers.

Mains are priced between $16 and $20 and include Thai-style eggplant curry with egg noodles, bean shoots and spring onions as well as roast rack of lamb with mushrooms braised in red wine and tomato chutney.

For seafood lovers there is seared ocean trout with linguine, braised peppers, basil and olive tapenade and crispy fish rice paper parcels with a black bean butter sauce.

* CLARKS on Beaumont St, Hamilton, is hoping to hook your appetite with a range of new summer menus.

There is plenty of seafood including blue swimmer crabs in an avocado and tomato salad, and natural oysters with chilli and lime.

How about gazpacho soup with bugs' tails?

Other seafood dishes include roast barramundi on lyonnaise potato, spinach, chicken and thyme jus, and grilled tuna with piperade and balsamic dressing.

The lunch menu has a coriander noodle salad with seared tuna, soya and ginger dressing as well as beer-battered flathead with chips.

* ANTONIO's on Cleary St, Hamilton, has introduced the Pasta Blast.

The Pasta Blast is available for lunch, Wednesday to Monday, and for dinner on Sunday and Monday nights.

The pasta is $5 for small servings or $8 for large.

There are two types of pasta to choose from and toppings include marinara, vegetarian and Sicilian.

Side dishes are also $5 and include garden salads, antipasto and seasoned wedges.

The deal also includes take-away meals.
